Classifications and results in regularity rallies

Blunik Precision Chrono arround Europe

The spirit of Blunik devices

How was Blunik born?

How did Blunik start? With what objectives?

In Blunik we have a history and a tradition of which we are quite proud, so we would like to explain this briefly to you.

JM Carreras, an electrical engineer, was, and still is a fan of motorsport; following formula 1, some speed rallies… and he had as a “fun car” a fabulous Citroën Dyane 6.

In 2005 he found out that there were classic car rallies where the task consisted of having a regular time. He signed up with his daughter Esther (at that time a technical engineer) for the first 1000 mile rally. Over the months before the rally they prepared an electronic appliance to measure their speed which was much more precise than the car’s own odometer.  Hope and enthusiasm encouraged them to install an internal chronometer in their device and to program the average speed over the distance.

During those first rallies they realised that many of the other participants using tables couldn’t cope, some navigators getting dizzy, some not worrying about regularity, and others ending up with eyestrain without being able to see any of the landscape.  So they realised that their humble gadget let them enjoy the views, talk during the journey, follow the roadbook and have regular and accurate timing allowing them to gain more points in the classification.

Thus Blunik was born, an appliance with a blue screen which combined a stopwatch, calculation of tables and an odometer all in one (unique) device, hence the name Blunik, coined in 2008 when the device was put on the market via the old method of “word of mouth”.

Since 2008 in Blunik we have taken part in many rallies, improving the software of the device and adapting to the requirements of other participants better than ourselves. We have since made the jump to making all the electronics for timing regularity rallies, something which was not only a great challenge, but also a necessity for the better and more enthusiastic drivers and navigators. The truth is we are really happy to still be not only here, but also in 20 other countries over the world with our Blunik devices.

The Blunik spirit still remains the same, to bring enjoyment to regularity, making this a sport for couples, friends, ex-drivers, expert drivers, learners, fans of motorsport and lovers of classic cars. Together with this, Blunik wants to provide competition, precision and sportsmanship so that there are winners, future winners, a desire to improve and pride in achievement

At Blunik we live for regularity! What about you?
