Blunik II or Blunik II PLUS?

Which Blunik device to choose?

You’ve already decided to purchase a Blunik for regularity, and now you have doubts on whether to choose a Blunik II or a Blunik II PLUS, then here we’ll give you all the information you need to make a decision.

The Blunik II PLUS is the newest model, and it is the one with more functions. Also it is the one we are developing the most and which you’ll be able to update when we have new versions. The first version is 5.01.

The Blunik II is the most sold model, it has everything you need to do precision regularity in a single device and it also admits accessories. The latest version is the 4.09

Functions the Blunik II PLUS has, that Blunik II doesn’t:

Road-book Function/Mode.

When programming a ZR you can enter your road-book distances. Reliable distances you have annotated when performing recons of each ZR.

The Blunik will show you “The #xxx figure” and will indicate the distance to validate.

If you validate the figure you adjust meters. If you don’t validate it does nothing.

This function is combinable with the SPORT CALCULATOR accessory, which will calculate the % and calibration percentages, and will apply them according to the meters you adjust at each vignette.

Time-Distance Function/Mode.

Available as of version 5.04.

Programming ZR with distance and time (instead of average speed and kilometres).

Ideal for regularity tests with irregular tables.

Combinable with the B-Pad accessory.

Improvements in the JP Function/Mode.

Immediate change of JP (imposed tables) to imposed average speed without changing sector.

Accessories.

It admits the use of the new accessory B-DATAFAST. Ideal to enter lots of data in a fast way.

Other differences Blunik II PLUS has that Blunik II doesn’t:

You can adjust meters by directly applying a distance (with the ENTER key).

It warns us of average speed changes, indicating on the screen if the next average speed will be faster or slower than the current one.

It warns us of visual average speed changes, indicating on the screen that we have to press START.

It includes a new manual, which explains all the functions in detail.

Differences in parameters and programming:

The parameters have been compacted to minimize the necessary key strokes needed to activate adequate functions.

A time offset can be programmed. This is useful for manual timing or for GPS timing with tenth of a second truncation.

You can program it to add or subtract xx meters per kilometre.

It can calculate the average speed of a partial.

The probe reading software takes into account if the car is front wheel drive (probes on the back wheels) or if it is rear wheel drive (probes on the front wheels).

Our recommendations

If you are beginning to do regularity, choose a Blunik II. It has all you need and when you need to, you can always convert it into a Blunik II PLUS.

If you have been doing regularity for some time and you’re switching to Blunik to win, choose the BLUNIK II PLUS. Those who are in the first positions know all and more!

If you take part in closed road rallies and you know you’ll be doing distance recons, choose the BLUNIK II PLUS, the Road-Book function is really worth it. If you know you won’t be doing recons, maybe it is not worth it for you.

If you have a low budget, choose the Blunik II and don’t save money on the probes or the mechanical setup.

If you’re preparing for the rally of the year, like for example the Rally Montecarlo, Tour de Corse, Rally Costa Brava choose the BLUNIK II PLUS and use the road-book function, it can make you climb many positions in the classification.

If you are doubting between choosing either a Blunik II PLUS or a Blunik II and one of the co-pilot accessories choose the second option, especially if you are considering the SPORT DRIVE or the SPORT CALCULATOR.

If you are doubting between choosing either a Blunik II PLUS or a Blunik II and one of the pilot accessories choose the second option, especially if you are considering the SCREEN PLUS or the MAGIC DISPLAY.
