Blunik at the 11th Gèneve-Cannes Rally
The Gèneve-Cannes Rally is a very glamorous tourist rally that leaves the city of Genoa (Switzerland) and ends in Cannes (France), following a magnificent 1031km route distributed in 3 stages plus a prologue. This year there were 11 timed sections, which Blunik had the pleasure of doing the timing.
During the tour we could enjoy spectacular views, except on the top of Mount Ventoux, where the fog was present. We crossed magical landscapes such as the pass of la Menée, the pass of Valouze, the gorge of the Nesque and the gorge of the Verdon, always stopping to eat and sleep in luxury hotels.
And most important of all, all the drivers and co-drivers were fantastic and the atmosphere was very friendly at all times. They were from France, the Netherlands, Latvia, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Sweden and even from Australia! And all of them drove car wonders. We highlight some of the cars that impressed us the most, such as the Aston Martin DB4, the Jaguar Type E or the MG TA, a pre-war vehicle! And also the Porche 914, 911 and 924, the Jaguar MKII and the Saab 96 V4.
Finally in Cannes, at the dinner at the end of the rally, where the awards were made, we had the honor of meeting the famous pilot Ari Vatanen and his wife and writer Maria Roiha, who will write his biography.
If you want to participate in the next edition, we leave you the link of the organizer, Jean-Claude of Peugeot, who has been leading this and other successful events for years.
